History
The McDonnell Family Foundation was created in April, 1998 out of a concern for adults and youth at risk of losing their futures, their families, or their lives. The Foundation was developed by Jack McDonnell and his wife Pat for the purpose of helping those who simply cannot help themselves, and was developed with the theory that "If you give a man a fish, he will eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he will eat for a lifetime." In 2001, the Foundation redefined itself and re-centered its focus strictly around children in at-risk situations. Jack and Pat McDonnell both agree that today the driving force of the Foundation is the value of our Children who are our Future.
Mission Statement
The McDonnell Family Foundation is primarily focused on helping children who do not have the resources or means to provide for themselves. Our goal is to instill in them strong family values, promote self-esteem, and create opportunities for them to develop the skills and moral standards that will empower them to become responsible, self-sufficient, and productive individuals. We plan to accomplish this mission through supporting organizations which provide education, healthcare, housing, and emotional and spiritual support. The McDonnell Family Foundation accepts Grant Requests and will award grants bi-annually in our Spring and Fall sessions.
Geographic Focus
For the McDonnell Family Foundation, it is critically important to have a representative in each organization that works directly with our Foundation to assure that we have achieved our common goals. Each year, the progress of an organization we fund will be reviewed prior to any new funding with that organization. With that in mind, at this time the Foundation will ONLY accept grant requests for organizations operating in the Colorado. We will continue to accept grant requests for organizations our Foundation has funded in the past.
