Colorado
Mount Saint Vincent Home (Website)
Caring for Colorado children for 128 years
Rooted in the tradition of the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, responding to the needs of the time, Mount Saint Vincent Home partners with families and children to strengthen their ability to emotionally and socially participate in their community. The home started in 1883 as an orphanage and remains on the same site. With the change in child care services in 1969, we became a residential treatment center for children ages 5-18 who have been diagnosed with mental illness, neglect, and abuse.
Mount Saint Vincent Home houses 44 children in residential cottages and provides kindergarten through eighth grade education to another 50 children who come to campus for our services. We also offer preschool and therapeutic preschool services to children between the ages of three and five.

Save Our Youth (Website)
Save Our Youth transforms the lives of low income, at-risk youth through mentoring relationships that provide the skills for success in educational, emotional and spiritual development.
The roots of Save Our Youth (SOY) took form in 1995 when 100 churches and related agencies gathered to address the question of low-income, at-risk youth and gangs. SOY volunteers mentor 450 at-risk youth between the ages of 10-18 in metro Denver each year. These efforts result in a 90% high school graduation rate from communities where there is typically a 70% dropout rate.
SOY is a faith based ministry serving kids emotionally, educationally and spiritually. We work closely with local urban and suburban churches for mentor recruitment. SOY takes special care in focusing on the educational development of Denver youth by providing them opportunities to grow and be encouraged through our College Prep program, College Scholars program and Summer Academic Recovery Centers.

Colorado Therapeutic Riding Center (CTRC) (Website)
Changing lives for people with disabilities and special needs for over 30 years
The mission of the Colorado Therapeutic Riding Center is to promote the physical, psychological and social well-being of children and adults with disabilities through their interaction with horses. The CTRC serves between 160 and 210 children and adults each week with a wide range of physical, cognitive and developmental disabilities. We are proud to be able to utilize the services of more than 250 dedicated volunteers through the offering of four program areas: Therapeutic Riding, Hippotherapy Mini Troopers and All Abilities Integrated Summer Camp.
CTRC's services have had a tremendous impact on people with disabilities and special needs in the Boulder and Denver metropolitan area (including Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Denver, Jefferson and Weld counties) for over 30 years. Children's Hospital and CTRC recently conducted a pilot project studying the effects of therapeutic horseback riding on school aged children with autism spectrum disorder - the first such study in the nation. The results of the study showed that the children experienced significant improvements in levels of irritability, lethargy, stereotypic behavior and hyperactivity.

The Arc in Jefferson County (Website)
Promoting inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
The Arc in Jefferson County promotes inclusion for people with developmental disabilities through advocacy, education, resources, community-building, policy change, and family support. We serve individuals of all ages who reside in Jefferson, Clear Creek and Gilpin Counties, offering assistance with issues related to education, health care, residential options, employment, legal concerns, systems navigation, and advocating for social, recreational, and religious inclusion.
For nearly 50 years, The Arc has promoted reform in schools, the workplace, residential life, and in the broader community with the intent to promote independence and inclusion for people with developmental disabilities. In 1991, The Arc in Jefferson County launched Mobilizing Families, our award-winning training for families of young children who have recently been diagnosed with an intellectual or developmental disability. This training provides critical tools to help parents advocate for their children in all settings, including education, healthcare, and insurance providers.
The generosity of The McDonnell Family Foundation has allowed The Arc to continue offering Mobilizing Families training for the last ten years.

Voices For Children CASA (Website)
Helping to stop the cycle of child abuse and neglect one child at a time
VFC CASA aims to help break the cycle of child abuse and neglect in Boulder County through the use of trained CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteers.
For the last 25 years, they have recruited, screened, trained and supervised CASA volunteers who help child victims to meet that goal. Each year, CASAs provide investigation, advocacy, monitoring, and direct service to the child victims to help get them out of the system and into a safe and permanent home as quickly as possible.
In addition to the primary CASA program, VFC CASA offers the Growing Your Child neglect prevention program. Parents of newborns may enroll after receiving initial packets from Boulder Community, Longmont United or Avista hospitals or from a Warm Welcome visitor. They will receive infant development information at different stages of the baby's first year. All materials are available in both English and Spanish. At the other end of the age spectrum, the Lifelong Connection program is an enhanced CASA service which tries to find caring adults who will be a permanent connection for youth aging out of the child welfare system when they turn 18.
The Limb Preservation Foundation (Website)
The Limb Preservation is set out to support the prevention and treatment of limb-threatening conditions due to trauma, tumor or infection. Together with the Animal Cancer Center at Colorado State University, the Limb Preservation society is working aggressively to find a cure or better treatment for Osteosarcoma and other bone cancer conditions. Dr. Ross Wilkins is the anchor of the foundation and one of the nation's premier Orthopedic Surgeons. The McDonnell Family Foundation has funded the Limb Preservation Foundation in the areas of Patient Assistance and an endowment fund for Bone Cancer Research at Colorado State University. You can find the McDonnell Family Foundation at the LPF's Savings Limbs & Lives annual breakfast, the Tom Arganese, M.D. Memorial Golf Tournament and the Limb Preservation Foundation's Mountain Mardi Gras.
The Adoption Exchange (Website)
The Adoption Exchange is determined to bridge the gap between children who are pushed through the Foster Care system and families willing and ready to adopt. For the Adoption exchange, the ideal is for every child to grow up in a supportive, loving, and permanent family. Executive Director Dixie van de Flier Davis and her team estimate that 129,000 children nationwide await permanent homes while in foster care, and it is their dream to someday find homes for each one of those children. The Adoption Exchange serves the better part of the Rocky Mountain region, specifically: Colorado, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Utah. The McDonnell Family Foundation has been friends and partners with the Adoption Exchange for over ten years and every year, the two organizations team up to put on the Buckaroo Stampede in Kremmling, Colorado. You can find the McDonnell Family Foundation at the Adoption Exchange's annual Fantasy Ball.
Red Rocks Church (Website)
Red Rocks Church has been a friend and recipient of funding from the McDonnell Family Foundation ever since the Church first started in 2004. Together with its in-house volunteer portal, Colorado Community Connect, Red Rocks Church has sent thousands of volunteers to serve Christmas or Thanksgiving dinners to families in poverty, to visit soldiers and mothers in the hospital, and to help our other partners out in throwing their fundraising events. Beyond just their volunteer capabilities, Red Rocks Church has begun a new campaign to send a full-time staff member to South Africa to deliver food, build shelters, and help administer AIDS treatments to children suffering in Freedom Park.
Red Rocks Sports Ministry exists to build opportunities for the Church to reach out and serve disadvantaged individuals in the Denver community. They offer quality sports leagues and encourage their athletes to actively participate in the programs provided to local charities. In addition to working with the McDonnell Family Foundation's partners, they have developed programs with the Special Olympics serving the intellectually disabled and Christ's Body Ministries addressing the needs of the homeless.
Red Rocks Sports Ministry believes sports offer a naturally effective platform to build relationships, confidence, skill, and determination. They are leveraging this platform to build closer and healthier communities within the Church, and more importantly, encouraging those communities to address the many needs present in the Denver area. The McDonnell Family Foundation has been the primary supporter and funding source for the development of this ministry.
